It is now required that all staff & agents enable 2-Step Verification on their Smith & Associates email accounts.
Recent attempts of wire fraud on Smith closings have been traced back to email accounts with compromised passwords, which hackers then accessed to try and hijack funds. Enabling 2-Step Verification on your company-provided email account helps to reduce the possibility that your account can be accessed by hackers, even if your password is compromised.
Please note – If you are using an external or personal email account to conduct your real estate business, and it cannot be protected with a similar 2-Step Verification process, please seriously consider stopping that process immediately and switching to a more secure solution, whether Smith email or otherwise. By using unsecured email solutions, you’re putting your clients at risk.
